Saying goodbye to your house is hard. We lived in this place for 6-1/2 years. The boys were 11 month old babies when we moved in. Dramatic changes took place from the moment the keys were ours. We were proud to turn an out-dated house into a warm, loving space that we called home. Brown cabinets turned white with new hardware, linoleum floors were covered with ceramic tile, brown dated appliances gave way to a new stainless look, fresh paint was splashed on the walls, green and red tiles were removed from the bathroom for a more modern look, new light fixtures and fans were added, carpet tiles found a home in the basement. The list goes on and on. We nurtured and loved that house over the years, and in turn, it gave us a lot of great memories. Prior to being homeowners, we lived next door in the upstairs flat for 2 years. It goes without saying that we will miss our quaint, city street.
In the 8-1/2 years of living in the Southampton/Princeton Heights neighborhood, we really got to know the area and neighbors. Every time we took a walk/bike ride in the neighborhood, we were reminded why we loved living here. People were always outside...working in their yard or sitting on their front porch for coffee or wine. The yards weren't large, but people found joy in beautifying their property. During those countless walks through the streets, we would usually bump into a fellow neighbor or parishoner and talk. As we were preparing to move away, many of those same people commented on how they have watched Colin & Aidan grow up as we have trekked through those streets. They have watched them ride in strollers as babies, take steps and fall on the sidewalks as toddlers, learn to ride trikes, speed down the streets on scooters and race up and down on bikes.
South city will always hold a special place in our hearts.
