Ciao from Roma!

Rome is a city that is said to have begun 2,700 years ago.   Today, you can tour the ancient areas and envision what life would have been like.  Pretty amazing!   About a week ago, we flew to Rome to celebrate Mike's birthday.   We spent 4 days immersing ourselves in the ancient sites, touring the Vatican, and enjoying too many delicious Italian specialties.   Every night, we found ourselves walking across the bridge that directly takes you away from Castel Sant'Angelo and into a charming neighborhood pocket that eventually leads you to the Piazza Navona.  The charming streets in this area are quite picturesque with narrow cobbled-stone roads, ivy climbing the sunny colored buildings, and plentiful restaurants and gelati shops to choose from.

For those of our family members who are going to be traveling to Rome in June and September, get excited because you are going to fall in love with this city!

Hope you enjoy our tour of Rome.

Afternoon/Evening 1:

We had a great apartment only a stone's throw away from St. Peter's, so we spent a lot of time here.  By the time we got started it was probably mid afternoon, so we immediately headed to St. Peter's for a tour of the basilica.

Excited to be in Rome!  For the boys, it was their first time.  Mike and I had been to Rome 13 years ago during our college study abroad time.   Despite the forecast saying it was going to rain everyday, it really only rained in the mornings, and we enjoyed temperatures close to 60F.

St. Peter's Square or as one of the boys said, "it's more of a circle"  :)
