Taking down the tree.....

We're kind of taking down our tree a little late this year. I just started removing ornaments and lights last night, on the 11th of January! It was such a nice, beautiful and aromatic tree....a Balsam. We loved it up...but more than that...the boys loved it up. Also, I had been sick the last several days, so felt nothing like touching the tree. I finally felt a million times better on Sunday....so I started doing things again and decided it was time to tackle it. Anyway, it was so DARN sweet! As I was taking ornaments down, Colin gets this super cute look on his face....eyes all sad....nose scrunched up....lips puckered and says in his sweet little voice..."Don't take the ornaments off the tree, Mommy!" He was REALLY sad. Poor little guy. I was too. It's always a downer come those first few weeks after the holidays. I proceeded to tell him how we will celebrate again next year and how much fun it will be....and how it's always here before you know it! He thinks the tree should stay in our house. The problem is it's a real tree and will start to brown and lose even more needles than it already has done. At least I can say that Colin must have really enjoyed Christmas if he was so sad about the tree leaving. Both boys had a wonderful one. It was such fun this year with them being 4 and really having a true understanding about it all. I am so thankful for that!
