DAY 2 continued...Up and around Castle Hill:
Beautiful tiled roof
Fisherman's Bastion
Fisherman's Bastion is a viewing terrace overlooking the Danube River.
The architecture is quite stunning!
Love this shot!
There is a cafe inside part of Fisherman's Bastion. I can imagine a wedding reception up here.
Here we are with the Parliament Building through the left window
Colin is the photographer in this shot!
It's windy up here :)
Looking back toward Gellert Hill
Parliament
Walking around the Castle/Buda Hill district
City bus
Buda Hill neighborhoods
Bright and colorful row buildings
We ate lunch at this restaurant on the 3rd day.
You can still see the destruction on some of the buildings
(We felt like we were at the King & Queen's table)
We enjoyed a delicious 3-course meal
Hungarian Goulash Soup...YUM!
Beef Paprika Noodles...DOUBLE YUM!
Berry Cake...TRIPLE YUM!
As we were getting ready to leave Castle Hill, we saw a ceremony taking place. The Kazakhstan Ambassador to Hungary was visiting the President of Hungary. This was how the Ambassador was escorted into the building.
View of Pest
Visiting the Spas
We wanted to experience the spas that Budapest is so well-known for. We visited the Gellert Spa. Above is a picture of the swimming pools. The kids were not allowed in the thermal baths for more than about 5 minutes due to the high temperatures not being good for them. So, Mike and I took turns trying out the thermal baths while the other stayed to swim with the boys. This pool was COLD! (especially after being at the thermal ones).
Don't we look great in our caps! ;) Caps are mandatory for swimming.
Very elegant spa
Crossing the bridge to the Pest side again
Dinner on the Pest side
