My sweet husband bought me a really fun Christmas present this year!! It was something we could do together, and it was very interactive. There is an Italian chef in Brussels who teaches people how to make pasta. So, we set up an evening for him to come to our house and show us all about making pasta.
We set the kids all up with pizza and a movie on the 2nd floor, and we were able to have a night with Chef Michele.
Our menu looked like this:
-starter surprise
-ravioli filled with pumpkin and cheese - Sauce butter and nutmeg.
-tagliatelle - Sauce mix mushroom, fresh cream and parsley
-dessert Tiramisù
Michele made tiramisu for us
mixing flours & pinch of salt
carefully adding the eggs
kneeding the dough
fold and kneed...over and over
While the dough rested for 30 minutes, Michele made our starter surprise. It consisted of grilled eggplant, fresh mozzarella, basil and topped with a red sauce.
flour: 70% complete
Yum! The starter was delicious
Michele also showed us how to make a wild mushroom, cream, parsley sauce for the tagliatelle pasta.
Now, it's time to roll the dough. It was so great to have Michele there to show us how to make the pasta. He had some great pointers.
Looks good, Mike!
Ready to add the filling for the ravioli
We had so much fun!
2nd layer on top...press down
cutting out the raviolis
Mmmm...almost edible!
Making the tagliatelle
My turn
Letting the tagliatelle dry a little bit
It's very satisfying to make something homemade! Now we need to buy our own roller so we can do this with the kids.
After Michele left, we boiled our noodles and enjoyed a delicious dinner!
Pumpkin filled ravioli with a butter/nutmeg sauce...WOW...amazing!!
Michele brought us a lovely Sicilian wine.
Next course: Tagliatelle with the mushroom, cream sauce...Delicious!
And we ended with some tiramisu. Lovely!
Thank you, Mike, for this truly memorable night. It was one of my favorites spent with you.
