Finally, the day had arrived. This day was the start of many family trips to come (we hope, anyway!). We were embarking on our 1st family vacation to the beautiful land of Colorado. But this particular trip wasn't JUST a vacation, it was extra-special. It was the week that my older brother, Tim, was getting married!
My parents had taken an earlier flight in the day...quite early actually. We decided that a later flight for our boys' first airplane ride would be better. We had a 2:30 flight. Frontier airlines was so wonderful with us. They gave the boys button pins with animals on them. They also only charged us for 2 of 4 checked bags saying that the other 2 bags were small!...(that made mom and dad happy!). And then on the plane, the flight attendant took the boys with Michael up to the cockpit where the pilot turned lights on and off and even made the engine roar (according to Mike). The flight attendant was so sweet. She even paid for the boys to watch tv on the flight. It definitely helped to advertise..."This is our boys 1st airplane ride!!" They really made it a memorable one for us!
Mike and I didn't really know how the boys would do on the plane. We could only hope for the best. And the best is what we received from them!! They did wonderful! Colin had a couple moments where he got scared (during take off, a little turbulence mid-flight, and the landing), but all he needed were some reassurance hugs..no tears or anything...so that was good! They really enjoyed their first experience.
Once we landed, we took a tram to get our baggage and then, a shuttle/bus to pick up our rental car. The boys were able to experience a plane, tram, and a bus all in a matter of a few hours. Little did they know, they would experience climbing on a helicopter and riding a train through the mountains. But that was later to come. After we picked up our car, we had about a hour drive to Morrison where Tim and Claire recently bought a new home. They live so close to the mountains and still only a half hour to downtown Denver. It is really ideal.

Finally, we arrived at their house with big greetings! Then, my parents and Tim barbecued some dinner for us and we just enjoyed a nice evening of visiting at Tim & Claire's new home.
Stay tuned for Day 2 coming soon!
