Quintessential Summer Day!

Michael & I both had the Friday before the holiday off, so we decided to take advantage of the entire day before the rain on the 4th. We started the day off in Demun at our favorite coffee shop where we always get coffee and some yummy pastries, and then, let the boys play at a nearby playground.

After eating & playing, we always take a nice walk around the Wydown neighborhood....looking at all the big beautiful homes we can only dream of having one day! Here Colin is being carried by daddy b/c his shoe was hurting. How could you turn that little face down? :)

After our morning, we went back home, relaxed, had lunch and then headed to the Shaw Aquatic Center for an afternoon filled with swimming.

The boys were so excited about their new life jackets and going in the deeper water (4'-6")...even though they never let go of us. We did practice kicking and paddling arms though!

Taking a break! So sweet!

Daddy...soaking up some rays & looking GOOD! :)

When we got home, we were STARVING. You know how swimming makes you SO hungry! So, we made a watermelon smoothie while we prepared these chicken shish kabobs. Boy, were they yummy! We made them with pineapple, orange pepper, onion, cherry tomatoes, and chicken. Then we glazed them with a sweet & spicy honey, mustard glaze. WOW! We don't usually do kabobs, but they turned out wonderfully! We also ate corn on the cob, fresh cucumber and watermelon. It was like having all the typical summer foods in one meal. And it was definitely worth the time it took to prepare and cook. :)

Just look at all that color!

Grill Master Mike!

For us, the month of June had been so busy with activities every weekend & some week nights that it was so nice to slow down and have a family day. It was much needed!

It truly was the quintessential summer day!
