Day 2: Red Rocks, downtown Morrison, and Rehearsal BBQ

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

On Wednesday, we woke up to apple pancakes being made and the smell of Kaldi's Highlander Grogg coffee. Whenever Tim and Claire come to town, they make sure to stop by Kaldi's to stock up on the amazing maple syrup smelling coffee. With my parents and us coming, we brought them 3 bags of the beans (a couple bags to enjoy while we were there and one for them to have after we were gone).

Today was the day of the rehearsal dinner. Tim and Claire wanted it to be laid-back so my parents bought all kinds of groceries to have a BBQ at their house. All of the immediate families as well as out-of-town guests would be invited. In the morning, we wanted to get the boys out of the house while Tim and my mom & dad shopped, so we took the boys to Red Rocks. Michael and I had been before and it's really close to Tim's new house. So, we went there and attempted to run the stairs. Everyone in Colorado (it seems) likes to exercise at Red Rocks. They either run the stairs or run up and down every single row. I ran it about 1-1/2 times. It was tiresome especially with the altitude. Michael did it about 4 times. I really didn't feel like exercising on my vacation unless it entailed hiking or something of the sort. So, we primarily got some nice photos of the boys and the views out.

After Red Rocks, we headed to downtown Morrison to check out their little downtown. It was definitely the feel of a small mountain-like town.....little gas station, small bank, a couple shops, an ice cream eatery, and a pretty river running through. We stopped and got the boys some ice cream for a treat & then headed along the river walk.

Once we got back to Tim and Claire's, the boys rested while I helped my mom prepare food for the rehearsal BBQ. Tim was running errands for the wedding, and Claire was enjoying a little time with her sister and some girlfriends.

The rehearsal bbq was a lot fun...filled with good food, lots of company, kids playing, BIG kids playing cornhole, and an excited couple on the eve of their wedding day! It was a nice evening!
