Since the last time I posted, we've done a couple new things. The boys had their first dentist appointment. We chose to go to a pediatric dentist recommended by our pediatrician rather than the one that Mike and I go to. Ours is downtown so they are more used to adults. Anyway, this pediatric dentist was wonderful. The waiting room had real birds in a large cage with stools around it so kids could watch them. Right when we got there the assistants took the boys' photo. Hahahaha...I need to post that one. Aidan had a tentative smile with not-so-happy eyes. And Colin just stuck out his lips in a "I'm not happy" look. haha!
Once we were ready for the cleaning, the boys got in their chairs. Btw, all kids chairs were in a row, so they can see other kids doing it. Peer pressure, in this case, was a good thing! Aidan sat there like he had done it before. Colin needed a bit of coaxing. He wasn't so sure about laying down in this chair that moved or what that thing was she was going to put in his mouth. We had talked prior to coming, but all that seemed to go out the window. :) Anyway after learning what was going to take place, we got through the cleaning, flossing, and checking. The boys passed with flying colors. The dentist was so nice. He informed us that Aidan has his 1st loose tooth. OMG!!! I can't believe it. Now THAT makes him seem like a really big boy. We left the office with a new CARS toothbrush, a toy from treasure box and a photo of their 1st visit. Maybe the next time we arrive for the photo, the boys will have real smiles!
Last night was the boys first swim lesson at the new nearby rec plex. My mom went with me because Mike couldn't go. The boys' teacher, Ms. Emily, took them out into the water right away. We are in a semi-private class so it's just us and her. She had them splash around & blow bubbles. She used several different type of floatation devices. One looked like a big bar bell. The boys held on to practice kicking while she pulled them around. Then she had them lay on a noodle while she pulled one around at a time. Then she used another device on their back while on the noodle. She even practiced having them jump into the water while holding their hands. I don't think their faces went under. Afterwards, she said that they did really great especially considering it was their 1st lesson. She told the boys to lay in bed and practice their kicks which they definitely did that night! :)
Let see...what else have we been up to? Yesterday, the boys helped dig holes in the garden while I weeded and put flowers in. They were a huge help & the birds were so happy with them too! Afterwards, I kept seeing birds fly down to mosy around in the beds. Looks like all the digging also dug up a bunch of worms for dinner for the birds. :)
This weekend, Mike and I participated in a 5K run on Wash U's campus. It was a fun run around the campus (2x's) that ended with sprinting up the stairs to Brookings Hall. That was killer. All in all, we were happy with how we did and enjoyed the run. We'll be doing it again next year to support Take Steps for Kids!
That's about it from us for this week. I'll try to post the pic from the dentist & actually remember my camera for next week's swim lesson!
