It's getting colder here. On Saturday afternoon, we had freezing rain, and this morning we woke up to frost. The radiators seem to be working pretty well, or as Colin calls them, "radi-heaters." Having radiators is quite different than the furnace we were used to. In our old house, we could often hear when the furnace came on and could feel the warm air blowing through the vents. Here we don't have that. And there are no filters to deal with. Instead, water is heated by a water heater box in the garage and piped to the radiators. It then, sends out warm air when the temperature in the house is lower than what is set. As I type this, Colin has set up a chair right by one of the "radi-heaters" and is warming his back. :)
Speaking of interesting: I was at a grocery store in town a couple weeks ago getting some eggs. I opened a carton of brown eggs and found a hen feather lying on top of the eggs. I had to laugh, thinking, "these are FARM FRESH!"
I have to say that I have been annoyed by something that seems so easy to do in the States, but has been frustrating here. There have been two instances in the last month when I said to Mike: "Let's just order a pizza tonight." We had recently found a pizza restaurant that even delivers (a rarity, it seems.) So with my mind all set on not cooking and instead eating pizza, I went online to order the pizzas. The first time, I found that they were randomly closed on a Tuesday night. Bummer! The more recent second time, I ordered the pizzas online, and later got a phone call from the online company saying that they couldn't get a hold of the pizza restaurant to place the order. This was about 20 minutes after having thought I ordered it. Needless to say, we had a breakfast dinner that night. Who would think that ordering a simple pizza would be so difficult? Oh well....too many good things here to let that one bother me too much!
