Our 1st Big Trip-PARIS

We're about two and a half to three hours away from Paris by car (even more if the traffic is bad). However, if one takes a bullet train which moves about 186 miles per hour, one can make the trip in an easy one hour and fifteen minutes. Given our proximity to the City of Lights, it was a pretty easy decision for Jess and I to bring the boys there for our first big trip. And what a trip it was! It was everything we had dreamed of and more. I was fortunate enough to have been there in college, but Jess did not make it there. What we are so pleased about is that we are able to expose the boys to such amazing art, history, and architecture at such a young age. And they were such fantastic troopers. They traipsed through the streets of Paris, rain or shine, from 08:30 to about 21:00. I found an apartment on a site which alot of the folks here use on their trips. Overall, it was quite good. Location wise, it was perfect. 15 minute walk to Notre Dame, 20 minutes to the Louvre, 20 minutes to the Musee d'Orsay, 25 minutes to the Musee l'Orangerie and ten minutes to the Seine River. As we arrived home on Saturday night at 21:30, totally exhausted, Jess and I reflected back on a fantastic first big trip which enabled us to introduce the boys to Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Picasso, Matisse, Eiffel, and so many more wonderful artists. We will definitely be back!
