Day 2: Cassis by the sea--Part 1

On Day 2, we ate a good breakfast at our hotel, and by late morning, we caught a bus to the seaside village of Cassis.  It was about a 30 minute drive partly through Marseille, and then went along some curvy roads along the cliffs and coast.  We read somewhere to sit on the right-side of the bus for the best views.  And views they were!  With one eye in Mike's shoulder and one eye looking down the cliff, I saw the beauty of Southern France.   Cassis quickly became our favorite city in Provence, and you will soon see why.   (click on the first photo to see them larger)

The Mediterranean

Enjoying the drive--especially when there is a wall or guardrail :)

Village of Cassis with its gnarly plane trees

What a gorgeous port city!
Row buildings of all different colors and character and a lovely promenade

Love this shot with the boats lined up

Me and my honey!

Lots of smooth pebbles lying about on the beach.

Beautiful emerald colored water

Love!

Chateau de Cassis sitting high upon the calanque is now a hotel and event center.
Previously, it was a castle in the Roman time.

Best Friends!

Brave Sunbathers!!!!
It was about 50 degrees F which was nice with your coat off, but that's about it.

I could live here!

Daddy and his boys!

From here we walked through the town to the calanque that we planned to hike. More on that in Part 2....

A Bientot!
