Viller's Abbey
This 12th century abbey is now in ruins. The monks of the Cistercian Order lived here.
The website also has a wonderful drone fly-through video.
Now that's a keeper!
Huge!
It's beautiful to see the remaining details of columns and window panes.
The ceiling is soaring!
The cathdral
3 Musketeers....
It was a pretty day.
Waterloo
After Viller's Abbey, we took James into Waterloo so he could see where the Battle of Waterloo took place in 1815......200 years earlier from when James was there. For more on the battle, see one of our earlier posts.
La butte du lion

200 years ago, this farmland was not so peaceful & tranquil.
Chateau d'Havre
On one of our quieter (down) days, we took James to the Chateau d'Havre where we walked around the moat as well as played at the playground. Afterwards, we stopped at a very old antique barn store dating from the 16th c. (It was so old, that you could see light coming through holes in the ceiling.) And, we topped the day off with some good 'ole bowling.
For a little more history on Havre, check out this post.
As you can see, parts of it are under construction.
We all love this zipline swing!
