On Sunday, we went to Trier, an old Roman city, in Germany. It was raining when we first arrived, so we hopped on a trolley and viewed the city from a dry seat. One of the city gates, called Porta Nigra, dates all the way back to the 2nd century. Pretty amazing!

In the middle of the city, there is a modern building protecting these ancient Roman baths. You can take a tour, but we didn't on this day.

Trier is located in the Mosel Valley which is known for making wine. The grape used most in this region is the Riesling grape. We bought some Riesling wine at our lunch spot. It was delicious...a hint of sweetness, but not too sweet.
More baths...what it used to look like
