In mid-May, we flew to the lovely city of Prague to enjoy a few days in the beautiful Czech Republic. We lucked out and had sun on all the days except our last. While we were in Prague, it also happened to be the weekend for World Ice Hockey Championships which were being held there. So, the Old Town square was especially lively with a big screen tv showcasing all the games. On our first evening, we happily walked around the city without an agenda.

We stopped in the Republic Square to see the local craft and produce market.
Knights in Prague
Our Knight was photobombed by another tourist, so I had to cut him out. ;)
Powder Gate, 11th century
It is one of 13 original gates leading into the Old Town Square. At one point, this gate was used to store gunpowder, hence the name.

This square used to be the city's main marketplace. Since then, a multitude of building styles have been erected around the square: Romanesque, Baroque, and Gothic. The best thing to do in the square is to sit at one of the cafes with a beer or glass of wine in hand & fully take in the beautiful sights.

Astronomical clock on the Old Town tower, 15th century
On every hour, one can watch the procession of the Twelve Apostles: a small trap door opens and Christ marches out ahead of his disciples, while the skeleton of death tolls the bell.

Gate at Charles Bridge
There was a procession going on near the Charles Bridge, so we curiously stopped to watch. The day before was the feast of the Ascension, so we think it was a parade related to that.
