Ha Ha...a little play on an old saying. This weekend, we had a nice little get-a-way. (Thanks to my lovely parents!!) C & A stayed with Grandma & Papa for a night. It was so nice to have a little time away!! I REPEAT..."soooo nice!" We decided to cook a meal together at our house instead of going out to eat. We bought a couple gorgeous NY strip steaks that were at least 1" thick. We marinated those all day in Italian dressing. While Mike was slowly barbecuing the steaks, I whipped up some Twiced Baked Potatoes and Bruschetta. I picked basil leaves from our garden and made some fresh pesto. I added the pesto to the french bread with a little tomato and parmesean cheese...and voila'....Bruschetta. It was such a nice dinner in the comfort of our own home...with no kids interrupting...no phones ringing...no computer blaring...etc. We even got out our wedding china and had a lovely dinner on it. After a while, we walked up to a local neighborhood restaturant and had dessert...tiramasu for me and Neopolitan cheesecake for Mike...WOW!! We used to do dinners like this all the time before having our two little rugrats....so now a nice gourmet meal cooked together is even that much more special since it doesn't happen as often.

After dropping the boys off at my mom and dad's, I came home to a beautiful bouquet of roses. What a great hubby!
